My family talks a lot about food. We end up discussing on our dining table what to have for the next meal. The discussion of the earliest next meal is like a practice and goes on all the time. So, similarly on Saturday evening, we were discussing what to make for Sunday lunch. Now this is difficult because the auspicious month of ‘Shravan’ is going on and we can’t make non-vegetarian food. Options like varieties of pasta (Anushka makes amazing pastas; she being a real Italian food freak) or Chinese sprung up.
Just a week back , Anushka and me had visited a continental restaurant in the neighborhood called ‘Fat Cat CafĂ©’. Now, we had not-so-good experiences and had a bad stomach, twice we had gone there. Common thing we ordered was Fish. Now, since it was Shravan, we decided to order something else, something different and we called for ‘Mezze Platter’ a Mediterranean delicacy. It was fascinatingly delicious (this is not a restaurant review).
That’s when I told my family to relax and decided on what shall be the lunch menu for Sunday. Discussed with Anushka and we closed on the following list –
- Pita with veggies (veggie prep to be stuffed inside pita)
- Hummus (chick-pea spread)
- Baba ghanoush (brinjal / egg-plant preparation with some seasoning)
- Fattoush (Turkish salad)
Let’s see how it turns out tomorrow. Have made the list of all required ingredients, hope I get them.
